Project Impacts
Motorists are advised that there will be nightly lane closures on both i-95 southbound and northbound from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (sunday through thursday). Project limits are from Exit 74 to exit 75.
Current Activities
- New bridge deck formwork and other installation (ongoing)
- Bridge deck scheduled to be completed in June
- Construction of the last two remaining retaining walls, 108 and 110
- Installation of granular base material for the new section of I-95 southbound being completed (scheduled to be paved in May)
- Installation of precast concrete barriers within median of new permanent highway
- Installation of highway drainage
- Installation of new median highway lighting system
- Installation of plantings site-wide (June)
Future Activities
Reconstruction of the new permanent Exit 74 southbound off-ramp and 200’ section of I-95 southbound (2-week complete closure of off-ramp) occurring after July 4th weekend
I-95 traffic switches into new Stage 6 alignment. Southbound on newly constructed lanes, northbound slight shift towards the new median (July)
Route 161 reconstruction efforts from Starbucks to new Frontage Road (gravel and grade changes - October)
Milling and paving of large portion of Route 161 (October)
