Ledge Blasting Scheduled for I-95 East Lyme

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that, to facilitate construction work associated with the I-95 East Lyme project in East Lyme, I-95 Northbound and Southbound will be closed intermittently beginning August 1, 2023.
CLOSURE INFO
Beginning on August 1, 2023, ledge blasting along I-95 will take place Monday through Thursday for a period of 6-8 weeks. As a result, I-95 NB/SB will be closed twice a day between the hours of 9:00 AM and 1:30 PM for 15 minutes for each blast.
During this time, motorists are encouraged to follow the posted detour. Motorists and residents are also encouraged to sign up for text message alerts of blasting operation notification on the project website, Sign Up for Alerts | I95 East Lyme (i-95eastlyme.com).
DETOUR
I-95 Northbound Detour: Motorists should take Exit 74 and continue on Route 161 north, turn right onto Route 1, follow Route 1 for 1/4 mile and turn left onto I-95 Northbound entrance ramp.
I-95 Southbound Detour: It is advised that motorists traveling on I-95 southbound take Exit 75, follow Route 1 to Route 161 south to access the I-95 southbound entrance ramp.

Nighttime Closure of I-95 Northbound Exit 74 On-Ramp
The on-ramp from I-95 Northbound (at Exit 74) will be closed on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 and Wednesday, July 26, 2023, beginning at 8:00 p.m. and re-opening at 5:00 a.m. to allow for the relocation of utilities. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour.
DETOUR
To access I-95 Northbound, motorists should continue on Route 161 north, turn right onto Route 1, turn left on to Cross Road, turn left on to Waterford Parkway, and take entrance ramp to I-95 Northbound.

The off-ramp from I-95 Northbound (at Exit 75) will be closed on Monday, July 24, 2023 and Thursday, July 27, 2023, beginning at 8:00 p.m. and re-opening at 5:00 a.m. to allow for the relocation of utilities. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour.
DETOUR
To access Route 161, motorists should continue on I-95 Northbound and take exit 81, turn left onto Waterford Parkway, turn left onto Cross Road, turn left onto Parkway North, turn onto I-95 Southbound entrance ramp, and take Exit 74.

Nighttime Closures on I-95, Northbound and Southbound - Wednesday, July 19th
Motorists are advised that between 12:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, I-95 will be three (3) separate ten (10) minute shut downs (via rolling roadblocks) in both the north and south directions, including the I-395 Southbound merge, to support cable relocation. Please be advised that during these closures, Exits 73 and 74 Northbound and Southbound on-ramps as well as the Exit 75 Southbound on-ramp will be closed down.

The on-ramp to I-95 Northbound (at Exit 74) will be closed on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, and Thursday, July 6, 2023, beginning at 8:00 p.m. and re-opening at 5:00 a.m. to allow for the installation of aerial power and to connect the temporary illumination units. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour.
DETOUR
To access I-95 Northbound, motorists should continue on Route 161 north (turns into Route 1), turn left on to Cross Road, turn left on to Waterford Parkway, and take entrance ramp to I-95 Northbound.

The on-ramp to I-95 Northbound (at Exit 74) will be closed on Thursday, June 29, 2023, beginning at 8:00 p.m. and re-opening at 5:00 a.m. to allow for the installation of temporary illumination units on the temporary traffic barriers. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour.

To access I-95 Northbound, motorists should continue on Route 161 north (turns into Route 1), turn left on to Cross Road, turn left on to Waterford Parkway, and take entrance ramp to I-95 Northbound.
